Sarika Navanathan – Articling Student

Biography

Sarika Navanathan is an articling student, working on labour, employment, and human rights law. Her passion for social justice has motivated her throughout her education and career to pursue work that leaves a positive impact on the world around her.

Sarika is a graduate of the University of Toronto in the Rotman Commerce program, graduating in 2020 as a recipient of the Director’s Award for Community. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law in 2024, graduating as Valedictorian of her class and a recipient of the 2024 Justice Rosalie Abella Silberman Prize by the Royal Society of Canada.

In law school, she held leadership positions with the Student Law Society and Pro Bono Students Canada, and founded the Windsor Law Tamil Students’ Association. She partook in several moots and clinics, including the Migrant Farmworkers Clinic. She has received numerous awards for her international law, social justice, and leadership work both within and outside of school.

Outside of the law, Sarika is a singer and songwriter who is passionate about community-building through the arts. In her free time, she loves to listen to new genres of music, eat spicy foods, and explore new cities around the world.
