Ryan Ramdin – Labour, Human rights, Employment Lawyer

Biography

Ryan is a labour, human rights, and employment lawyer. He joined Morrison Watts Hurtado & Buchner in 2023 as an associate and practices on behalf of trade unions, associations, and individual employees. He regularly assists unions and their members by providing legal advice and representation in collective agreement disputes, disciplinary matters, and occupational health and safety, pay equity, and human rights issues. He also provides employment advice to non-unionized workers on various issues, including wrongful and constructive dismissals, workplace discrimination, and accommodation matters.

Ryan is a graduate of York University with an Honours B.A. in Criminology and an M.A. in Socio-Legal Studies. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law, in 2021 and was called to the Bar in 2022. In law school, Ryan pursued his commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (“EDI”) and access to justice as a caseworker and division leader at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic. Following law school, he articled at a prominent Toronto labour firm where he worked on various labour matters.

Ryan is proud of his Indo-Caribbean culture and ancestry. He actively leads and assists with charitable work, mentorship programs, and other education-based campaigns in low-income and marginalized communities across Ontario and the Caribbean.
